Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate Round 2 Results
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Rice University sophomore Jeff Wibawa will look to build on a 36-hole performance which currently has him tied for 13th at the 2011 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate being played at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.
Wibawa followed a morning round, even-par 71 with a 70 later in the day and will begin Tuesday's final round nine strokes back of second-round leader Nicholas Maruri of UNLV who shot a pair of 66s on Monday. Maruri has a one-stroke lead over Wichita State's Hunter Sparks and New Mexico State's Justin Shin. Sparks fired a tournament-low 65 Monday afternoon and along with Shin has a two-round 133 score.
Maruri along with teammate Derek Ernst, who is currently in fourth at eight-under, have helped propel UNLV into the lead after 36 holes. The Rebels have an 11-stroke lead (543) over Wichita State (554) which is currently second. Host New Mexico State is currently third (559).
Rice shot a two-round 598 on Monday and is currently 14th at the tournament.
Behind Wibawa, Rice teammate freshman James Ragan shot a two-round 149 (75-74) and is currently tied for 49th.
Tuesday's round will wrap up the fall season for the Owls.
