Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today that Rice senior defensive end Cheta Ozougwu is among 12 student-athletes who will receive the C-USA Fall Spirit of Service award.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing Conference USA's fall sports: football, soccer, volleyball and cross country.
Ozougwu has continued to give back to the community, while earning All-C-USA on the field and All-C-USA Academic honors in the classroom. During his time at Rice, Ozougwu has also participated in African Christian Fellowship, the Black Student Association Social Committee, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and many other organizations.
