Kyle Martens is one of ten punters who remain in contention for the 2010 Ray Guy Award, which identifies the nation's top collegiate punter. The 10 semifinalists were announced by the Augusta Sports Council on Friday.
Joining Martens on the list of semifinalists are 2009 winner Drew Butler of Georgia, as well as Bryan Anger (California), Ryan Donahue (Iowa), Reid Forrest (Washington State), Chas Henry (Florida), Dan Hutchins (Pittsburgh), Anthony Santella (Illinois), Quinn Sharp (Oklahoma State) and Dawson Zimmerman (Clemson).
The candidates were evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. He has placed 38% inside the 20 this year (17/45) and 53% (9 of 17) of those have been downed at or inside the 10. His previous career best was 14 inside the 20 in 2008 (52 punts).
