
Lennie Waite - All-America in 3000m Steeplechase

Fayetteville, Ark. -- Lennie Waite is now a two-time All-American. The Rice distance runner extraordinaire placed fifth in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the 28th NCAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Arkansas' John McDonnell Field. Waite completed the event with a time of 10:01.40. Colorado's Jennifer Barringer, set a meet record in winning the event with a time of 9:25.53.
Waite, from Austin, Texas, garnered her first All-American accolade at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship. There she finished sixth in the mile with a school-record time of 4:38.60.
She concludes her Rice career as the school-record holder in the 1500m (4:16.09) and in the 3000m steeplechase (9:50.48).
