Houston -- Rice's men's cross country team placed five runners among the top 10 en route to winning the HBU/Puma Invitational with 30 points. HBU was second with 40 points, while Lamar (53) and Texas Southern (115) followed.
The Owls were led by Simon Bucknell's third place finish with a time of 16:42.6. Michael Trejo was fourth (16:52.3), Gabe Cuadra placed fifth (16:57.0), and Matt Carey was seventh (16:59.4). Placing 10th with a time of 17:14.1 was Scott Zivick.
Lamar's Joonas Harjamaki won the individual title with a time of 16:22.9.
