Rice's Desarie Walwyn and Jason Colwick swept both the men's and women's Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week honors after posting strong performances this weeked.
Walwyn qualified for the NCAA Regionals by posting her fastest time in two years in the 100m (11.70) to win the title at the Texas Southern Relays, and came back later in the meet to anchor the Owls 4x100 relay team to a regional qualifying time of 45.43. She was joined on the relay by Sarah Lyons, Shakera Reece and Brittany Washington.
Colwick tied for the top spot at the Texas Invitational in Austin with a personal-best mark of 5.35m (17-06.50) in the pole vault.
