Rice and Northwestern Announce Future Football Dates

The Rice Owls and Northwestern Wildcats, who last faced each other on the football field in 1998, have agreed to meet in a home-and-home series in 2010 and 2011. The announcement of the series was made jointly by the schools on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to add Northwestern to our football schedule," Rice Director of Athletics Chris Del Conte said. "We are institutions with a similar missions, with student athletes who strive to attain excellence in both the classroom and in athletic competition."
The series will resume on September 18, 2010 in Houston. The Owls will then make the return trip to Evanston, Ill on November 19, 2011 to complete the series.
The two schools have met a total of five times since their first meeting in 1967, with Rice leading the all-time series 4-1. The schools last met in 1998, with Northwestern defeating Rice for the first time, 23-14 at Rice Stadium.
