Kate Gorry was third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:47.85, and Funmi Jimoh placed third in the "A" long jump with a leap of 6.14 meters/20-1.75 to lead Rice's women on day three of the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The Owls also got ninth-place finishes from Ulrika Hinson in the javelin and the 1600-meter sprint medley relay. Jimoh, LaToya Adekoya, Desarie Walwyn and Vicki Walker teamed up to clock 3:59.86 in the medley. Rice did not qualify for the final of the 4x100 relay, though, as a team of Jimoh, Chandra Ewing, Adekoya and Walwyn crossed the line at 46.59.
