Wichita, Kan. -- The Rice golf team finished 15th at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic with a 937 total after shooting 321 in Tuesday's final round at the par 71, 6,814 yard Wichita Country Club. Kaz Hoffman led the Owls with a 228 (74-80-74) which ranked tied for 33rd.
The Mavericks of UT-Arlington (287-292-312) won the team title by two strokes 891 to 893 over Oklahoma City (293-296-304). UTA's Bobby Massa won the individual title by one stroke at 219 (72-72-75). Arkansas' Andrew Landry (77-72-71=220) and Kansas State's Robert Streb (71-73-76=220) tied for second.
Rice's next competition is not until April 14-15 at Stanford's U.S. Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, Calif.
