
Rice Falls To Auburn

HOUSTON -- On another chilly day at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium, the Rice women lost to Auburn 6-1 in dual-match action on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Emily Braid scored the only point for the Owls, rallying from a set back for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory against Heather Bybee at No. 6 singles. Freshman Julie Chao's comeback was averted by the Tigers' Melissa Koning who took a 7-5, 5-7, 10-5 decision at No. 2.
Sophomore Dominique Karas and freshman Rebecca Lin teamed for a victory at No. 2 doubles as the Rice pair beat Whitney Chappell and Kelly Adams 8-3.
The Owls continue their current home stand next weekend, hosting No. 44 North Carolina State on Friday at 3 pm and No. 54 Louisiana State on Saturday at 1:30 pm.
