With a flurry of activity surrounding them as workers continued the renovation of Rice Stadium, Todd Graham's Rice Owls went through their final day in pads as they continue to hone in on Saturday's Bayou Bucket clash with the Houston Cougars.
"I practiced in the stadium for a reason," Graham stated as workers continued their work on the installation of the new scoreboard, the final installation of the remaining bleacher seating and painting of "Rice University" on the front of the press box. "I wanted to make a statement to our kids and have them see all this progress going on around them."
The team has responded to the energy that has filled the stadium each day.
"We have had a great camp," Graham said. "They have put in a lot of work the last two weeks and we are thrilled with the effort."
Graham also noted that he will take a healthy squad into action in his head coaching debut on Saturday night. "Everybody should be available if we need them," he noted
The Owls will go through a light practice on Thursday before returning to Rice Stadium on Friday for final instructions before Saturday's game.
Game time for the annual battle for the Bayou Bucket is set for 8:00 and will be broadcast on KSEV (700 AM) and nationally televised by CSTV. Tickets to the game can be purchased on line, in person at the Rice Owls Ticket Office, located on the first floor of Autry Court, or by calling 713-522-OWLS(6957)
