
Robinson Qualifies for NCAA Discus Final

Rice senior Krystal Robinson advanced to the final of the women's discus Wednesday on the opening day of the NCAA track and field championships at Hornet Stadium, placing fourth in the qualifying round with a throw of 53.05 meters/174-0. Robinson, who was fourth in the event here last year, will compete in the final Friday at 1:45 pm. Amarachi Ukabam of Southern Illinois had the best qualifying throw at 55.25/181-3, while defending champion Beth Mallory of Alabama was second in the qualifying with a toss of 54.21/177-10.
