Daniels Qualifies for NCAA Nationals

Marissa Daniels raced to a fifth-place finish in the 5000-meters Friday at the NCAA Midwest Regional championships at the University of Texas to earn a trip to the national meet at Sacramento, Calif., in two weeks. Daniels, who has also provisionally qualified for the NCAA meet in the 10,000-meters, ran in the middle of the lead pack for much of the race and crossed the finish line at 17:05.23 to earn her second-straight trip to nationals.
High juper Flo Nwagwu failed to clear the opening height of 1.71 meters/5-7.25.
Competition resumes Saturday at 1 pm with the women's hammer, and running finals start at 5:30 with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
