WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Rice women were swept 7-0 by 20th-ranked William & Mary on Friday afternoon in Williamsburg, Va.
The Tribe clnched the doubles point with a pair of 8-2 wins at the one and three positions. The Owls' Kimberley Patenaude and Alanna Rodgers pushed their match to a tiedbreak but were edged out in the end.
In singles, William & Mary swept five matches to secure the team victory. Rodgers rallied from a set down to force a super tiebreak, but the Tribe's Lingda Yang recovered for the tough 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) decison.
The Owls (7-11) conclude their east coast swing on Sunday when they take on 17th-ranked Harvard.
