Rice's women's 4x800-meter relay squad placed eighth Thursday on the second day of action at the 79th Texas Relays, clocking 9:17.79. The team was comprised of Lennie Waite, Jessica Cox, Lauren Murphy and Claire Shorall.
Chandra Ewing was sixth in her preliminary heat of the 400-meter hurdles at 63.95, but did not advance to the final.
Competition resumes Friday at 9:30 am with the 4x100-meter relay prelims, and field events begin at 10 am with the B section of the javelin.
