
Carmon Second in Long Jump at Mt. SAC Relays

Lacee Carmon was second in the long jump and Lennie Waite won her heat of the 1500 meters for Rice Thursday on the opening day of the Mt. SAC Relays. Carmon had a wind-aided leap of 5.76 meters/18-10.75 to take silver in the collegiate/development section, while Waite had a personal-best 4:34.97 to win her heat and place eighth overall in the collegiate section.
Sophomore thrower Ulrika Hinson uncorked a lifetime-best 45.95/150-9 to take fifth in the discus, and she came back to place 12th in the javelin at 36.63/120-2.
In other action on the track, Laura Kelley had a season-best 18:18.02 for 12th in the 5000-meters, and Anna Reeve was 35th overall in the 1500 at 4:52.91.
The Owls return to competition Friday, highlighted by three runners looking for NCAA national-qualifying marks in the 10,000 -- Marissa Daniels, Kate Gorry and Sarah Yoder.
