Jimoh Named Athlete of the Week

Senior Funmi Jimoh was named Rice's women's athlete of the week for the period Jan. 30-Feb. 6 after setting a school record and winning the pentathlon at the Houston Indoor Invitational on Feb. 3. Jimoh, who was also named Conference USA's indoor track and field athlete of the week, scored 3,937 points to provisionally qualify for the NCAA championships and break the old record of 3,876, set in 2003 by Ruthann Gairdner. Her long jump effort of 19-11.5 was also the best this season in C-USA.
