Gay Joins Owls' Senior Administrative Team

Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration
Rice Vice President and Director of Athletics Tommy McClelland announced on Wednesday the addition of Courtney Gay to the Rice senior administrative team as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration.
"We're thrilled to welcome Courtney to the Rice family," McClelland said. "Her extensive experience across both collegiate and professional sports, combined with her deep expertise, positions her to make an immediate and meaningful impact within our athletics department and the student-athletes we serve."
Gay joins Rice after working at the University of Georgia for the past several years in multiple roles, most recently as the Assistant Athletic Director – Human Resources and Strategic Engagement. Prior to the University of Georgia, Gay's previous stops include working for the Atlanta Braves, the NBA G League, and the NFL. In her role at Rice.
Gay will assume multiple administrative duties, including sport oversight and serving as the Human Resources liaison for athletics.

"Rice University is a world-renowned institution, and I am tremendously grateful to Tommy McClelland for the opportunity to be part of the team. I am excited to become a member of the Rice community and serve our student-athletes, coaches, and staff as we collectively pursue excellence."
Gay earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and would go on to earn her doctorate in Philosophy, Counseling, and Student Personnel Services from the University of Georgia. Gay is a 2024 NCAA Leadership Institute graduate.
Her first day on South Main will be Wednesday, April 22.
