Houston - The final weekend of Rice's 2006 spring football practice schedule will include an inaugural golf tournament at the Willowisp Country Club in Missouri City, head coach Todd Graham has announced.
"One of our primary goals will be to connect with the men who have always had the most invested in Rice football, our former players," said Graham. "This tournament, our banquet and the final spring game will be a good start to get them involved with the 2006 Owls."
The April 7 tournament, using a scramble format, will include breakfast at 7:30 am, a talk by Graham at 8:15, and a shotgun start at 9. The new Owls coaching staff will also be positioned around the course to talk football with the golfers.
The cost to play in the tournament is $75. The weekend will also include the Rice Football Banquet on April 7 and the final spring game/scrimmage on April 8 at 7 pm in Rice Stadium.
The field for golf will be limited to 100 players. For more information, call 713-348-6917 or e-mail Mike Pedé at mpede@rice.edu.
