Owls Face #10 Aggies Friday at Autry

Rice and Texas A&M meet Friday at 7 pm at Autry Court in the biggest game of the season so far for both teams, with the Owls (4-2) coming off a thorough 91-48 victory Monday over Sam Houston State, and the 10th-ranked Aggies bringing a perfect 6-0 record after a win Tuesday over Arizona.
Emery Carter had a career-high 20 points in her first collegiate start for Rice against Sam Houston, and she will team up with the Owls' scoring leader, Lauren Neaves, to battle an A&M team that has won by almost 35 points a game on average this season. Neaves has scored 18.5 points a game and also leads Rice in rebounding with 9.7 an outing. Junior guard Kadie Riverin chips in 11.3 points and 4.5 assists on average, while Maudess Fulton is scoring at a 10.5 ppg clip.
The Aggies are led by Morenike Atunrase, who averages 18.3 points and 4.3 caroms a game. Takia Starks also averages in double figures, scoring 14.8 a game.
A&M eked out a 65-64 win last season at College Station, and holds a 25-9 series edge.
Rice hosts Marquette Sunday at 2 pm at Autry Court.
