Coming off two impressive road wins to start the 2006-07 campaign, Rice opens its women's basketball home schedule Friday at 7 pm at Autry Court, hosting Ole Miss. The Rebels are also 2-0, and came away with a 110-63 win over the Owls last year in Oxford, Miss.
Rice's attack features all-America candidate Lauren Neaves, who was the Owls' leading scorer and rebounder in both wins this year. Neaves, a 6-2 senior forward, moved to second place on the all-time school rebounds list during the win at Rider, and is averaging 18.5 points a game.
Guards Krystal Frazier and Kadie Riverin also played well on the team's road swing, as Frazier showed a return to form after missing almost half of last year's games due to injury. Riverin nearly matched her career high of eight assists with seven at Monmouth.
Ole Miss has a marquee guard of its own in Armintie Price, a preseason all-America pick. Price, a 5-9 senior, scored 58 points in her team's first two games.
