Houston - Center David Perkins could be available when Rice opens its home schedule Saturday night against Navy in Rice Stadium.
The sophomore from Seabrook (Clear Lake) had been expected to be the Owls' starter this season until a leg injury knocked him out of the first two games. He has returned to practice this week and could share playing time with Austin Wilkinson (The Woodlands/High) against the Midshipmen.
"He looks to be fine and that will help us," said head coach Ken Hatfield. "We just need to have some consistency in keeping people out here, but the playing time that Austin and Scott Austin (Tyler/Lee) got will really pay some dividends for us."
