Houston - Rice will end its third week of preseason practices with a two-hour scrimmage Saturday morning.

With the season opener at UCLA still two weeks away, the Owls will have a full Conference-USA officiating crew in attendance to supervise the scrimmage as well as speak to the team about 2005 rule changes.

"They'll talk to the team about the way they'll interpret the rules and some other things to watch for," said coach Ken Hatfield. "This is important, especially for the freshmen who have come in from other federations throughout the country."
