Houston - Rice University Athletics announced today an exciting new way for fans to watch college football in Rice Stadium with the creation of the Perch at Rice Stadium. The Perch at Rice Stadium consists of seven temporary suites that are available for sale to the public.
"We are extremely excited to offer this service to our great fans," remarked Mike Pede, Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Media Relations. "For many years we have been looking for a unique opportunity to engage our supporters and I think that the amenities that we are offering in The Perch at Rice Stadium addresses those needs."
Each Perch, or suite, consists of a tented area for viewing-comfort, 50 chair back seats, and soft drinks. Also, the Perch at Rice Stadium falls under the same hospitality policy as the existing Stadium Club and Owl Club, in which beer and wine are available for sale to suite holders only.
Only seven suites are available in 2005 at a price of $10,000 each. The cost includes 50 tickets per home game, the suite proper, chair back seating, and soft drinks. Other food and beverages can be arranged through Rice concessions prior to each game for an additional charge.
