HOUSTON -- - The acclimation process continued Saturday morning at Rice's second preseason practice.

With Rice's orientation week for new students beginning Monday, much of the first two days of work has targeted getting the 26 Owl freshmen up to speed.

"We're giving them a lot and encouraging them to ask questions so that when we scrimmage next week, they'll know what to do," said head coach Ken Hatfield.

The Owls will take Sunday off before resuming workouts Monday morning. Rice opens its 2005 season on Sept. 10 against UCLA in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
