Women's Tennis: Rice Advances To WAC Championship Match
4/23/2005 HONOLULU - Top-seeded Rice advanced to its first-ever Western Athletic Conference Championship match after a 4-0 victory over Boise State, Friday, at the Univ. of Hawaii Tennis Complex.
The Owls captured the doubles point with identical 8-3 scores at the two and three positions.
In singles play, Medeja Egic posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Stacey Housley at number six. At the top spot, Blair DiSesa pulled out a 6-4, 7-5 win over Alissa Ayling, and moments later, Tracie Chong clinched the team victory with a 6-4, 7-5 triumph over Nadja Woscheck at number three.
The Owls will face Fresno State who defeated SMU in the other semifinal. The championship match is scheduled for 3 pm CDT.
