HOUSTON ? The Rice men?s and women?s tennis teams are in Honolulu, Haw., for their final Western Athletic Conference championships, set to take place Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, April 24 at the UH Tennis Complex. The men are the number two seed and the women are the top seed.

The men are on the islands in defense of their conference crown. The Owls finished the season with a 13-8 record and are ranked 39th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Rice is led by Robert Searle, the 41st-ranked player in the country. Searle is 17-3 at the number one singles position.

Boise State is the top men?s seed and earned a bye into the semifinals. The Owls will face number-seven Nevada on Friday at 2 pm (CDT).

On the women?s side, the Owls earned the bye as the top seed. The women will face the winner of number-eight Louisiana Tech and number-nine San Jose State. Rice, ranked 44th in the latest ITA rankings, is led by junior Blair DiSesa. DiSesa finished the dual match season at 15-7 as the Owls top player. As a team, Rice was 14-8 overall.
