Soccer: Just For Kicks! Meet The Rice Soccer Team

This season fans will have a chance to get to know a little more about the members of the Rice soccer team in the feature Just For Kicks! Today's Owl is sophomore midfielder Vanessa Serrano.

Serrano is a talented player who made an immediate impact on the team in her first season of Division I soccer a year ago. The standout from nearby Missouri City started every game in which she played and was named second team all-Western Athletic Conference. Her steady play has earned her a spot in all 15 of the team's games this season.

Did you know? Serrano earned the team's Rookie of the Year award from the Rice coaches last season.

What's the best thing about playing college soccer: knowing that I have to bust my butt for everyone on the team like I know they are doing for me.

Other than soccer, the Rice team I like to watch play their sport is the: volleyball
