Toohey, a senior at Boerne High School, was a third-team all-state selection as a junior and was selected as a first-team member to the all-regional and all-district teams.
At the class 4A state championships last season, Toohey finished 15th out of 48 entrants after winning both the regional and district titles. Dating to last spring, he has won six straight local high school tournaments.
With a 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame, head coach Clay Homan sees Toohey having an immediate impact with the Owls.
"He's a long hitter with a good short game and he makes a lot of birdies," Homan said. "In his last tournament he made eight birdies and two eagles. Anytime a high school kid can do that you know that they have the potential to become really good. He's a great fit for the program and he is a definite impact player."
In addition to the links, Toohey has also excelled in the classroom. He is currently ranked 12th in his class of 330 students with a grade point average of 100 on a 100-point scale.
Toohey is the first and only expected signee by Homan and Owls during the early signing period.
