Volleyball: Leman Named to Academic All-District VI Team

Leman, a 5-9 outside hitter from Magnolia, Texas (Magnolia High), has started all 30 matches for Rice this season, playing in 111 games. She is averaging 3.83 kills per game, 3.84 digs per game, and 1.36 assists per game, while hitting .238 on the year. Leman was named the Western Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week October 2, 2000 for her outstanding efforts against McNeese State and UTEP. She ranks seventh in the WAC in kills and is second in the league in digs. Leman carries a 3.79 GPA in Sports Medicine/Pre-Med and Spanish.
Other student-athletes named were Jill Gremmel, University of Texas; Tamara Luckemeyer, Texas-San Antonio; Stacy Schmidt, Texas-San Antonio; Lindsay Westendorf, Southern Mississippi; Beth Weynard, Texas A&M. These six student-athletes will advance to the national ballot with the national team being announced on Tuesday, December 12.
