Rice Invitational Set for Saturday

Men's and women's competitors from Lamar, Rice, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin State and Texas Southern will compete in the university divisions. Rice is the defending champion in both the men's and women's races.
The Deer Park boys and the Clear Lake girls won the varsity divisions in 1998, however, neither team will be back to defend their title. Nearly 27 high schools are scheduled to compete in the meet.
The meet begins at 7:40 am with the running of the Yahoo race. Anyone interested in running in the open event should be in the starting line at 7:30 am. There will be nine races in all, concluding with the running of the Rice Intramurals' race at 10:50 am (See complete schedule below).
The two-mile course is located on the Rice campus to the east of the Rice Gymnasium. The start line will be near the middle of the intramural fields and the finish line will be near the intramural tennis courts.
