Hanna Huston closed out her collegiate career in 2019 as one of the top distance swimmers in school history, recording a best of 16:33.37 in the mile, a time of 10:00.91 in the 1000-freestyle and 4:49.90 in the 500. In addition to scoring for the Owls every year at the Conference USA Championships, she finished third overall at the 2017 CSCAA Collegiate National Open Water Championships in Kansas. Later that same season she was a Top 8 finisher in the 1650-free at the CSCAA National Invitational (often nicknamed the 'Swimming N.I.T.').
Huston was a regular member of the C-USA Academic Honor Roll throughout her collegiate career. She was also the 2017 recipient of the program's Kathryn Scholl True Blue Spirit Award, which is presented annually to the Owl who "has shown dedication, discipline, and leadership, but most importantly, has been an inspiration to her teammates with her consistent hard work and commitment to the team concept." In her final semester as a Rice student-athlete, Huston was recognized by Conference USA as one of the league's Spirit of Service Award winners for her various community outreach initiatives. While at Rice she was a member of Jones College.
