When Rice head soccer coach Nicky Adams wanted to add a student-coach to help work with her new-look staff, the search didn[apos]t go any further than the Owls[apos] own record book.
Rice all-time great Kate Edwards is in her first season as the program[apos]s student coach. The Westlake Village, California, native made a name for herself as a smart, central-midfielder with the ability to control the tempo and rhythm of the game. Coach Adams is counting on her to do as she did as a player, and that is make the Owls around her even better because of intelligent decisions.
Edwards played at Rice from 2007 to 2010. She earned a host of individual accolades during her career, including All-Central Region, All-Conference USA, and C-USA All-Academic.
She finished with the seventh-most starts in school history (71) and was tied for third on the Owls[apos] all-time list for career goals (20). Edwards finished third in career shots (175) and tied for fifth with five game-winning goals. On three different occasions she scored two goals in a single game.
Edwards was a member of Will Rice College.
