• The Owls will host the Fighting Illini for the first time in program history. The only previous meeting between the two programs came in 2005, when Rice won 3-0.
• Illinois associate head coach Meredith Schamun is a Rice alumna. Schamun was a two-time All-American and currently holds the program record for career assists.
