Boone’s 68 Highlights Final Day of Lady Paladin Invitational

Greenville, S.C. — Freshman Ari Boone fired a bogey-free, four-under 68 to lead the Rice Women's Golf team in the final round of the season-opening Lady Paladin Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,335-yard Furman Golf Club.
Boone's 68 was the program's first-ever round under par, and moved her into a tie for 19th-place at +1. After six straight pars to begin the round, she birdied the 18th hole. She then recorded three straight birdies from holes 3-5 before closing her round with six consecutive pars.
The Owls, who have four golfers making their first collegiate start, carded their best round of the tournament, a one-over 289 to finish in 10th-place at +25, seven strokes behind Minnesota.
Freshman Jessica Jang carded her first career round of par or better with a 72 to finish +5 in 29th-place. Junior Justine Bayle had her best round of the tournament, posting a 73 to tie for 43rd-place at +10.
Redshirt freshmen Elisabeth Borsheim tied for 46th-place at +11 after carding a 76, and redshirt freshman Amelie Phung shot an 80 to finish +15 in a tie for 56th-place.
Alabama won the team title at -22, 10 strokes in front of High Point. HPU's Makayla Grubb earned medalist honors at -14, four strokes in front of Furman's Olivia Hasselbach and Xavier's Ivanna Flores.

"This was a tournament that we learned a lot from. While we didn't have the finish that we wanted, we saw improvement with each round and identified the areas we need to continue working on. We're carrying a lot of motivation to fine tune the areas of our game that will showcase what we know we're capable of. Most importantly, we're incredibly proud of how the girls handled themselves on the course, and are very proud of Ari (Boone) for her bogey-free 68 and first of many Top 20 finishes to come."
