Three Owls in Top 20; Pande shoots 65 at Colin Montgomerie HCU Invitational
Cabo, Mexico — The Rice Men's Golf team fired a six-under 278 to sit in fourth-place after two rounds of the Cabo Collegiate.
The Owls are three strokes behind No. 7 Arizona for third-place.
Redshirt senior Henry Daly is tied for sixth-place at -5 after posting a 68, one stroke behind second-place. It is his fifth round in the 60's this year and the ninth of his career. It is also his 14th round of par or better this year and the 21st of his career. His 36-hole score of 137 tied a season-low.
Freshman Raines Watson carded an even par 71 to sit in a ninth-place tie at -4. It is his 11th round of par or better this year. He also set a new season-low 36-hole score of 138.
Senior Lukas Boandl fired a 69, moving into a tie for 16th-place -2. It is his ninth round in the 60's this year, and the 23rd of his career. It is also his 17th round of par or better this year and the 55th of his career.
Sophomore Daniel Zou posted an even par 71 to sit at +4 in a tie for 45th-place. It is his 10th round of par or better this year and the 31st of his career.
Junior Reggie Zhu posted a one-under 71, sitting in a 57th-place at +6. It is his ninth round of par or better this year and the 28th of his career.
No. 9 Arkansas leads the tournament at -17, three strokes in front of No. 11 Oklahoma State. OSU's Preston Stout leads the individual tournament by six strokes. There's a four-way tie for second.
At the Colin Montgomerie HCU Invitational, junior Jaivir Pande is tied for 11th-place at -2. He began the day shooting a 75. But he followed it up with the best round of his career, firing a 65 to tie the second lowest round in school history.
It is his first round in the 60's this year and the fifth of his career. It is also his second round of par or better this year and the 11th of his career.
Redshirt senior Davis Byrd is in 18th-place at even par after posting consecutive 71's. He has six rounds of par or better this year and seven in his career.
Junior Braeden Hoyt is 11-over par in a 63rd-place tie after carding rounds of 73-80.
