Owls Concludes Day One of Houston First Chance Meet

HOUSTON – The Rice swim and dive team completed day one of the First Chance Meet on Friday at the CWRC Natatorium.
Two Owls recorded personal-best performances on the opening day. Junior Sami Johnson posted a career-best 4:51.87 in the 500-yard freestyle, while freshman Zara Bolton clocked a personal-best 23.78 in the 50 freestyle.
Only three events were contested on Friday, highlighted by first-place finishes from Ava Hamblett in the 500 freestyle (4:50.99) and Lily Archibald in the 50 freestyle (23.15).
Rice returns to the pool Saturday seeking NCAA qualifying times. Session two is scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by session three at 4 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed live on the Houston Athletics YouTube channel.
