Owls Combine for Record-Setting Fall in the Classroom

Highest cumulative GPA in school history
Houston-The 383 student-athletes who represent Rice in intercollegiate athletics combined to post the highest cumulative GPA in school history, completing their fall classwork with a mark of 3.520.
Seven teams ended the fall semester with the highest cumulative grade point averages ever for their sport (Women's Swimming & Diving, 3.788; Soccer, 3.755; Volleyball, 3.712; Women's Track & Field, 3.681; Women's Basketball, 3.546; Baseball, 3.371; and Football, 3.305 while Women's Golf posted a 3.878 GPA in its first fall.
Each of the Owls' 15 sports entered the spring semester with cumulative GPAs above 3.275.
In its first two seasons of membership in the American Conference, Rice has captured 13 Team Excellence Awards, more than double any other conference school, and earned 632 American Conference All-Academic team honors.
