Dyson and Archibald Sweep Swimming Honors

IRVING — Rice swimmers Ella Dyson and Lily Archibald sweep the American Conference weekly swimming honors, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Dyson, a senior, was named Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, while Archibald, a freshman, earned her second Freshman Swimming Athlete of the Week honor following standout performances in the Owls' final dual meet of the regular season against Houston and at the First Chance Meet.
Dyson secured first-place finishes in two distance freestyle events against Houston. She won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:49.28 and followed with a victory in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 4:50.55.
Archibald led the Owls in sprint and butterfly events at the Houston dual meet. She captured first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.15 and added a win in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 54.05.
The Rice swim and dive team will return to action next week as the Owls look to defend their American Conference championship title in Greensboro, N.C.
