Preston Named Conference Offensive Player of the Week

Irving – Rice senior outside hitter Taylor Preston was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Preston led the Owls to a 1-1 weekend, playing 10 sets over two matches. Rice fell to Temple in five sets (2-3) on Friday but bounced back to reverse sweep Tulsa (3-2) on Sunday. Preston hit .300 over the two matches.
She totaled 52 kills on the weekend, including a season-high 27 against Temple, where she recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 digs. She also added five blocks in the match.
Preston followed with 25 kills against Tulsa and finished the weekend with 58.5 total points, helping the Owls secure their first conference win of the season.
Through 13 matches, Preston leads the team with 4.17 kills per set. She ranks fifth in the conference in both kills per set and points per set (4.67).
Rice (5-8, 1-1 American) will travel to UAB on Friday for its first conference road match of the season.
