Watson Qualifies for US Junior Amateur

HOUSTON — Rice Men's Golf signee Raines Watson has qualified for the US Junior Amateur, played July 21-26 at Trinity Forest Country Club in Dallas, Texas.
Watson fired a three-under par 67 to tie for fourth at the qualifier at Hearthstone Country Club in Houston.
After starting the day with a pair of pars, Watson bogeyed the third hole, but got it back with a birdie on the fifth. He then parred the next five holes before bogeying the 11th. But following a birdie on the 13th, he closed the day with three straight birdies.
Watson then participated in a five-way playoff for three spots, earning the first spot.
