HOUSTON — Rice junior golfer Lukas Boandl looks to continue his strong season when he participates in the DP World Tour's Austrian Alpine Open.
He is one of six amateurs to earn an invitation to the Austrian Alpine Open, which begins tomorrow May 29-June 1 at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Gut Altentann Golf Club in Salzburg, Austria.
Boandl tees off at 7:10 a.m. CT, and is paired with Luis Masaveu and Niklas Regner.
The Königsdorf, Austria native is coming off a season that saw him earn All-American Athletic Conference honors and a berth into the NCAA Bremerton Regional, where he tied for 19th-place. He led the team with a 71.40 stroke average, a -0.26 average to par, 22 rounds of par or better, 145 birdies, and 11 rounds in the 60's, which tied the single-season school record. His season stroke average and average vs. par are the second fewest in school history. He had three top five, three top 10, and eight top 20 finishes.
