
Rice University Student-Athletes to Attend 2025 Black Student Athlete Summit in Chicago

HOUSTON – Rice Athletics and the SOAR Office are proud to announce that four student-athletes from the Rice Owls of Color United (ROC-U) Executive Board will be attending the 2025 Black Student Athlete Summit in Chicago, Illinois, from May 21-24, 2025.
The students selected to represent Rice University at this prestigious event are Chali Taylor (Football), Jamarion Clark (Football), Lademi Ogunlana (Volleyball) and Dayo Tennyson (Soccer)
The Black Student Athlete Summit is an annual event that provides a platform for Black student-athletes across the country to come together and engage in meaningful dialogue around their experiences both on and off the field. The summit is designed to empower participants through workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities focused on leadership development, academic success, mental health, and career preparation. The event is a unique opportunity for student-athletes to connect with industry leaders, engage in conversations on diversity and inclusion, and strengthen the network of Black student-athletes nationwide.
"We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes and the work they have been doing as part of the ROC-U Executive Board. This summit will be a valuable opportunity for them to further their personal and professional growth, connect with peers, and contribute to the important conversations surrounding their experiences in college sports," said Alexis Garrett, Director of Student-Athlete Development and Letterwinner Engagement and ROC-U's staff advisor.
