HOUSTON – Rice Athletics is proud to announce the release of the 2024–2025 SOAR Student-Athlete Development & Letterwinner Engagement Annual Report, celebrating another year of record-setting achievements by Rice student-athletes both on and off the field.

The SOAR (Student-Athlete Opportunities for Advancement through Rice Values) Annual Report highlights Rice Athletics' commitment to holistic student-athlete development through its five pillars: Career Development, Leadership & Belonging, Civic Engagement, Personal Enhancement, and Letterwinner Engagement. The 2024–2025 report underscores how Rice student-athletes continue to raise the bar across academics, athletics, service, and career preparation.

Year in Review: 2024–2025 Highlights

145 Educational Programs delivered through SOAR, providing student-athletes with professional, personal, and leadership development opportunities.
3,627 Community Service Hours completed — a record year for the Owls, strengthening Rice's impact across Houston and beyond.
94% Completion Rate in the Flight Plan Student-Athlete Development Curriculum, ensuring Owls are equipped for success beyond Rice.
Record Mentorship Participation, with more than 80 student-athletes paired with alumni letterwinners through the R Association Mentorship Program.
Expanded Career Initiatives, including the Beyond the Hedges Mock Interview & Networking Night and ProfessionOwl Development Weeks, connecting Owls with Houston's top professionals.

"The 2024–2025 academic year has been transformative for Rice Athletics and our student-athletes," said Tommy McClelland, Vice President and Director of Athletics. "The SOAR Office continues to set the standard for holistic student-athlete development nationally, and our Owls are excelling in every facet of their experience at Rice—athletically, academically, personally, and professionally. I am proud of their accomplishments and confident in the future they are building for themselves and for Rice."

As Rice prepares for continued success in the American Conference, the SOAR Office will build on its momentum by continuing the R Association Mentorship Program, enhancing financial literacy opportunities for all student-athletes, and expanding community partnerships—ensuring Owls remain equipped to lead on campus, in Houston, and around the world.
