HOUSTON - Rice volleyball middle-blocker Lademi Ogunlana has been selected to represent Rice University at the 2025 Black Student-Athlete Summit in Chicago, Illinois. The summit will take place at the McCormick Place Convention Center in the Windy City from May 21 to May 24.
This is an all expense-paid opportunity for Ogunlana to take part in the summit. Ogunlana is one of four Rice student-athletes selected for the summit.
The Black Student-Athlete Summit is a nationally recognized conference that brings together Black student-athletes, administrators, coaches, and higher education professionals to engage in meaningful dialogue and development centered on the Black student-athlete experience. This summit offers a unique opportunity for student-athletes to connect with peers from across the country, gain valuable leadership skills, and explore how they can continue to thrive both on and off the field/court.
Attending this summit will empower students with knowledge, confidence, and a deeper understanding of how to use their voices and experiences to create positive change within their teams, on campus, and in the broader athletic community.
The Black Student-Athlete Summit was founded by Dr. Leonard Moore, Ph.D, a professor of American History and the Executive Director of the UT-HBCU Initiative at the University of Texas at Austin.
