Kane and Portello Earn AAC Weekly Honors

Third this season for Portello, first for Kane
IRVING, Texas - Rice swimmers Amelia Kane and Ava Portello earned Swimmer and Freshman Swimmer of the Week honors from the American Athletic Conference, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
AMELIA KANE - SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
During Saturday's UH First Chance Meet at Houston, Amelia Kane notched a first place finish in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 16:21.03. Not only is this time the second-best time in the conference in the event, but it is Kane's lifetime best in the 1650 Free.
AVA PORTELLO - FRESHMAN SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
During Saturday's UH First Chance Meet at Houston, Ava Portello earned a second place finish in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 16:26.29. The time is the third-best time in the event in the conference, and is a new lifetime best for Portello.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday, February 19, as the American Athletic Conference Championship gets underway from Dallas.
