Men’s Golf Closes Day One of Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

Loxley, Ala. — The No. 51 Rice Men's Golf Team is in eighth-place after two rounds of the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational.
With expected rain on Sunday, the teams began the final round, getting through four holes before being called for darkness.
The Owls began the day firing a 282 before closing with a 296 to sit at +2, one stroke behind Purdue and Wake Forest.
Senior Lukas Boandl opened the tournament with a 71 and followed with a 72 to sit -1 in a tie for 13th-place. He now has a team-high 13 rounds of par or better and 51 in his career, tying Michael Whitehead for the most in school history.
Freshman Raines Watson is tied for 23rd-place at even par. He began the day with a 70, but closed with a 74. He now has six rounds of par or better this year.
Sophomore Daniel Zou began the day with a 71 before closing with a 75 to sit in a tie for 33rd-place at +2, giving him eight rounds of par or better this year, and 29 in his career.
Redshirt junior Henry Daly is tied for 50th-place at +5. He carded a 70 to open the tournament, but closed with a 79. He has 11 rounds of par or better this year and 18 in his career.
Junior Reggie Zhu posted back-to-back 75's to sit +6 in a tie for 54th-place.
No. 38 Texas A&M leads the tournament at -10, two strokes in front of Rutgers. Memphis's Yixiang Wang leads the individual tournament at -7, one stroke in front of Rutgers' Luke Koenig and Iowa State's Zachary May.
