Dyson Named American Swimming Athlete of the Week

IRVING – Rice's Ella Dyson was named the American Conference Swimming Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Dyson earned the honor after a standout stretch at the MPSF Open Water Championships and Owl-A-Pooluza. She captured first place in the 5000-meter freestyle at the MPSF Open Water Championships with a time of 1:01.21.
Dyson continued her strong form at Owl-A-Pooluza, winning the 1650 freestyle (16:46.36) and 1000 freestyle (10:01.10), while placing second in the 500 freestyle (4:55.37).
The Owls return to action this weekend when they host the Rice Fall Splash on Oct. 24-25.
