Notes
• Senior outside hitter Taylor Preston was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 29, following senior middle blocker Lademi Ogunlana, who earned the same honor just a week earlier on Sept. 22.
• The Owls split their conference home-opening weekend, going five sets in both matches against Temple and Tulsa, their first five-set matches of the season.
• Rice has faced six ranked opponents this season, its most since playing seven in 1992. Four of those were top-10 teams, the most in school history.
• Rice had a league-high four selections on the American Preseason All-Conference Team: middle blocker Lademi Ogunlana, outside hitter Taylor Preston, setter Savannah Skopal, and outside hitter Cindy Tchouangwa.
• Head Coach Genny Volpe is in her 22nd season with the Owls and is the school's all-time
leader in total wins (418) and winning percentage (.650).
Rice vs. UAB
• This is the 25th meeting between Rice and UAB since their first meeting in 2006.
• Rice is on a 13-game winning streak against UAB with six of them happening at UAB.
• Rice swept UAB in their last outing in Houston on Nov. 10, 2024.
Rice vs. Memphis
• Rice and Memphis will meet for the 10th time since their first meeting in 2006
• Coach Volpe is 6-3 against Memphis
• The Owls have won four of five games at Memphis.
• Rice secured a sweep over the Tigers in their last meeting in Houston on Nov. 15, 2024.

• Rice will return home and host South Florida on Friday Oct. 10th and go to UTSA on Sunday Oct. 12. Both games are set to be streamed on ESPN+.
