IRVING – The Rice soccer team had three athletes earn conference honors for the week, highlighted by Leah Chancey being named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week. Faith Hutchins and Lilly Reuscher also earned Honorable Mention honors for the week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
"Leah's work ethic and the quality of teammate she is are just as important to our team as the big goals she has been scoring," said Rice head coach Brian Lee.
Chancey scored Rice's game-winning goal in the Owls 1-0 win over Tulsa last Thursday night in the conference opener. Chancey's goal extended her goal-scoring streak to four matches, tying for the second-longest goal-scoring streak in program history.
Her five goals on the season are tied for the third most in the AAC, while her three game-winning goals are tied for the most in the AAC and sixth most in the NCAA.
Hutchins earned her third weekly conference honor of the season, being named goalkeeper of the week twice. Hutchins recorded her fourth shutout of the season against Tulsa, making eight saves in goal.
Reuscher earned her first career conference honor, playing all 90 minutes against Tulsa, leading the defense to back-to-back shutouts.
The Owls will be back in action Thursday night at South Florida.
